Hoʻoulu Designs

Hoʻoulu Designs

Hoʻoulu

(v.) to cause to grow [Parker Dictionary, Hawaiʻi]

As a design student, there are endless inspirations to draw from and endless possible outcomes, yet we are never in full control of how it is perceived. At the least, when creating space or products, it carries intention and stories.

As designers in Hawaiʻi, we carry a responsibility to design intentionally, with attention to our history, our community, and our ʻāina.

The goal in this new chapter is to deepen this space from just a store to an artistic catalog. A place to explore new voices, new designs and new mediums of storytelling. I also hope that this is a place to post resources and design processes as a growing student in hopes of finding feedback, stories, connections and community.

In this, I hope to post my journey in design school (and beyond) as well as what I have learned.

Here, this is also a kāhea to ALL designers, communities, and families that value home, ʻāina, community, and research. A place to kindly share resources, thoughts, and inspirations.
