Series 1  |  Kuʻu Home  |  Pōʻai by Pono Potions  |  01 August 2025

The most obvious inspiration is one I have drawn, studied, grown, and followed through life. Ti leaf never seems to tire me in its use, form, and symbolism. They have somehow survived the Waiʻanae heat, the shades of the back of of our house in Kaimukī and the Koʻolau winds in Kāneʻohe. We always plant ti leaf in our yard and it was a stable reflecting pieces of both my mom and dadʻs family.

This series highlights an element that we plant in every yard, protects our wahi pana, and harvest for medicine, lei, and skirts.

Through different mediums and graphic forms, this series became a way to find beauties in raw textures.
