Hoʻomaikaʻi Card: Lei Hīpuʻu

Kukui (Aleurites moluccana) is a candlenut tree often known for its symbol of enlightenment; used in this card to be given during the time of a great accomplishment or in light of an event. 

Hīpuʻu, meaning to knot, bond, fasten [Hawaiian Dictionary], was used as the lei style within this time to recognize the bond and warmth toward its recipient.
